Practice
What we
actually
do
(it’s more fun than it sounds)
Four kinds of work, one way of doing it: draw by hand, build models, listen hard, and keep the people who’ll use the building in every single meeting.
01
Architecture
New buildings from the first sketch to the last screw. Homes, schools, libraries, studios and the odd pavilion.
Feasibility & site studies
Planning & permits
Construction drawings
Site supervision

02
Adaptive reuse
Warehouses, churches, factories and tired office blocks — given a second (or third) life instead of a wrecking ball.
Condition surveys
Structural strategy
Heritage approvals
Low-carbon retrofits
03
Interiors
Colour, joinery, lighting and furniture that make a building feel lived-in from day one.
Colour & material palettes
Custom joinery
Lighting design
Furniture & art sourcing

04
Masterplanning
Streets, courtyards and whole neighbourhoods, designed with the people who’ll actually live there.
Community workshops
Urban design
Landscape coordination

(questions)
Things people ask us
…usually at parties
Do you only work in New York?
Nope. About a third of our projects are elsewhere in the US — we travel for the big moments and work with great local builders for the rest.
How small is too small?
If it has a roof and a reason, we’re interested. We’ve done a 900 sq ft cabin and a 42,000 sq ft school in the same year.
Can we be involved in the design?
Please! We run workshops, bring models to your kitchen table and genuinely want your weird ideas.
Are your buildings sustainable?
Every project gets a carbon budget at the start. We favour timber, reuse and passive design over gadgets.
